Wi-Fi Hotspots

Check out the Internet!

The Garland Public Library is now making Wi-Fi Hotspots available for checkout. We knows that there are people in our community that do not have connectivity and access to Wi-Fi. As an extension of the library’s work to close the digital divide, we are extending our services beyond our building to offer connectivity to our community.

What is a Wi-Fi Hotspot?

Wi-Fi Hotspot is a device you can use to connect a mobile-enabled device, such as a laptop, smartphone, or tablet, to the Internet. The hotspot is portable, so you can connect your device almost wherever you are. More than one device can be connected to the Wi-Fi hotspot and in most situations, up to ten devices can be connected simultaneously.

How long can I keep the Hotspot?

Wi-Fi Hotspots can be checked out for 14 days and service will be available during that time. If a Hotspot is not returned on time, imnternet service will be disabled until returned. Hotspots may be renewed, but must be done in person at The Garland Public Library.

How much does it cost?

Wi-Fi Hotspots and wireless internet service are provided free of charge for 14 days.

After the due date, Borrower will be charged $2/Day until device is returned up to the total cost of the device.

A $100 fee will be applied for lost or damaged Hotspot. A $15 fee will be applied for lost or damaged charger.

How do I get help?

Wi-Fi Hotspots come with an instruction sheet containing basic instructions for using the device and how to connect to Wi-Fi.

Borrower must be present to check out the Hotspot and show proof of I.D. (Check outs will not be permitted to family members or anyone other than the library cardholder.)

Borrower must accept all terms of the Wi-Fi Hotspot Lending Policy and sign a Wi-Fi Lending Waiver of Liability Agreement. Once signed, it will be held on record for future check outs.
